1.  What to wear

Posted 13 days ago
I was wondering what to pack.  Are things dressy, business casual or casual?

Hello Renee,
We are glad that you will be in Nashville for Summit 2017!

To answer your question I almost said yes to all of them, depending on what you feel comfortable in.
Business casual is what I see most of the ladies wear during the day during conference sessions.
Comfortable walking shoes are suggested.
With "networking activities" going on after conference sessions this will be a good time for your jeans and cowgirl boots.
You never know which country music stars you might run into and make sure you have your camera and/or phone batteries charged.
See you in Nashville!

@Renee Schaadt definitely wear whatever you feel comfortable in. You'll see people each day in suits, dresses, khakis and jeans. Best advice I can give you though is that not one room will be the same temperature. Always be armed with a sweater :) Last year in Tampa was gorgeous, warm weather outside...but some conference rooms were a little warm and others were freezing.

@Aleiha Hanson,

For some additional perspective from someone who detests high humidity, I have to say that Tampa's weather last year was only pleasant for me in the early morning when the temperature was in the 60s outside. Otherwise the humidity was absolutely overwhelming!

I am looking forward to this year's Summit because, as in Reno two years ago, one doesn't have to step outside! I evolved in air conditioning and the all-encompassing environment is definitely my speed.

Regards,

@Steve Erbach how on earth do you survive July and August in WI?  I was so happy when we moved to a drier climate.  Once that humidity hit 50%, I don't care if it was 70 degrees outside, that AC had to be on.  Glad to hear we won't have to go outside unless we want to.  Am I welcome at the WI table again this year?  Will always be a WI girl.

@Kris Elliott,

Of course you may join us at the Wisconsin table!

My determination to continue living in Wisconsin is based on the spring and fall. October is my favorite month. October in a warmer climate just wouldn't cut it!

The leaves are starting to turn now already. We'll have a bit of Indian Summer (80° temps and 60°+ dew points) this week... but Wisconsin is still the place to be for me!

See you at Summit!

Fall was always my favorite season!  I miss it so much, especially the changing of the leaves.  Enjoy!

@Renee Schaadt  Don't forget a sweater/jacket. It seems like no matter what facility you're in some rooms will be an arctic tundra and others a Southern summer.

@Steve Burney is spot on with comfortable shoes. You definitely get your steps in during the day (i.e. great for us FitBit wearers) and you'll still want to be able to boot-scoot boogie the night away!

Hello @Renee Schaadt,
Yes, Steve is correct, our events are typically business casual during the day. In my visits to the Gaylord Opryland, since the whole hotel is basically a giant atrium, I have found that it can be rather warm and humid in the general hotel spaces, walking the halls, etc. However, sitting in breakout rooms can sometimes get a little chilly to some folks. My suggestion is that layers are always a good idea.....its never a bad idea to have a sweater or cardigan handy just in case. ;D And comfortable shoes are a must!! You're going to be putting in a LOT of steps that week so make sure you're properly prepared for that. As far as evening activities, casual attire is definitely acceptable.

See you in Nashville!
