All about Points, Badges, and Ribbons

A fun feature of Dynamics GP User Group (GPUG) community is the ability to earn points for every action you take on our site, and turn those points into badges and ribbons to showcase your involvement in the user group.

Listed below are the badges and ribbons that you can earn on your user group profile along with an explanation of how you can attain each ribbon.

Community Contributor Points

Top Contributor

Earn contributor ribbons & badges by actively contributing content in the communities. These contributor badges identify you as a knowledgeable member of the community. Contributors will receive both a badge and a ribbon on their profile. Contributor level displays under names when participating in discussions. 

There are three contribution levels:

  • Silver (more than 300 community contributor points)
  • Gold (more than 750 community contributor points) 
  • Top (more than 1500 community contributor points)


You can earn contribution points towards a contribution badge and ribbon for doing the following in the communities:

  • Write a discussion post - 15 points
  • Reply to a discussion post - 15 points
  • Write a blog - 10 points
  • Comment on a blog - 8 points
  • Share a file - 15 points
  • Comment on a shared file - 3 points
  • Add a link related to a shared file - 4 points
  • Receive a like/recommend on a discussion or shared file you created - 3 points
  • A discussion reply of yours is selected as the 'Best Answer' by the original thread author - 15 points
GPUG members with the most contributor points per week will be featured in the Most Active Members widget.

Engagement Points

But wait - there are more ways to get points for actions on our site! The following actions are engagement points that count towards your overall score: 

Weekly Engaged Member
  • Send an invitation to connect with another participant - 3 points
  • Accept a connection from another participant - 2 points
  • Send a message to another participant - 3 points
  • Invite other participants to join a community - 1 point
  • Accept a community invitation - 1 point
  • View web page or thread - 1 point

Please note these types of points do not count towards a community contribution achievement.

Volunteer Points

The Dynamics GP User Group (GPUG) wants to thank you for your contributions to the community by recognizing your commitments.  As a volunteer, you play a vital role in building a strong and valuable community. You will earn points for each volunteer activity you contribute during the annual program year (September 1 - August 31). The more you participate in our volunteer program - the more points you earn!

  • Academy Presenter (Onsite Event) - 25 points
  • Academy Presenter (Virtual Class) - 100 points
  • Board Member - 200 points
  • Chapter Leader - 150 points
  • Chapter Presenter - 75 points
  • Chapter Team Member - 100 points
  • Advisory Committee Member - 100 points
  • Programming Committee Member - 100 points
  • Conference Presenter - 125 points
  • Magazine Contributor - 50 points
  • Session Moderator - 10 points
  • Session Panelist - 10 points
  • Session Presenter - 25 points
  • SIG Leader - 100 points
  • SIG Team Member - 75 points
  • Social Media Contributor - 10 points
  • Tips & Tricks Contributor - 50 points
  • Webinar Presenter - 75 points

Participation Achievements

You will earn badges by doing specific community actions or volunteering with the user group!

  • Highly Recommended: Awarded to participants who have gained 20+ points from others liking their posts, blogs, and shared resources
  • Resourceful: Awarded to participants who have shared files with the community
  • Simply the Best: Awarded to participants whose post has been marked as ‘Best Answer’
  • Well Connected: Awarded to participants who have added their social media handles to their profile
  • Chapter Leader: Awarded to participants who have volunteered to lead their local user group meetings
  • Chapter Participant: Awarded to participants who register for a chapter meeting
  • Helper:  Awarded to individuals who have responded to three discussion threads
  • Blogger: Awarded to individuals who have written two or more blogs
  • Conversation Starter: Awarded to individuals who have asked 3 questions that generated a response in the past year
  • Speaker: Awarded to participants who have presented at a user group webinar, chapter, or conference thru our volunteer program.
  • Author: Awarded to participants who have contributed tips and tricks or user group magazine thru our volunteer program.
  • Instructor: Awarded to those who taught an user group Academy Course thru our volunteer program.
  • Volunteer: Awarded to those who have filled out their volunteer profile.

Award Badges

We love to recognize our user group participant's awards! We give ribbons and badges for the following awards:

  • MVP - Award to participants who have been recognized by Microsoft's Most Valuable Professional (MVP) program. Recipients will also have this award displayed underneath their name when participate in discussions.
  • All Star - Nominated and voted on by GPUG participants, and awarded each year at Summit! Recipients will also have this award displayed underneath their name when participate in discussions.
  • Emerald Award - The Emerald Volunteer Award is given to user members who earned 600+ volunteer points through our volunteer program. Please note, while everyone can earn volunteer points, only paid Members will receive this recognition award.
  • Ruby Award - The Ruby Volunteer Award is given to user members who earned 400-599 volunteer points through our volunteer program. Please note, while everyone can earn volunteer points, only paid Members will receive this recognition award.
  • Sapphire Award - The Sapphire Volunteer Award is given to user members who earned 250-399 volunteer points through our volunteer program. Please note, while everyone can earn volunteer points, only paid Members will receive this recognition award.
  • Granite Award - The Granite Award is given to partner members who earned 625+ volunteer points through our volunteer program Please note, while everyone can earn volunteer points, only paid Members will receive this recognition award.

Conference Badges

Have you attended Summit, or any of our other conferences? Then you get a badge!

SUMMIT
  • Summit - Awarded to participants who have ever attended GPUG Summit in North America. Recipients will also have a ribbon denoting the year they attended.
  • GP Tech - Awarded to participants who have ever attended our GP Tech Event (or formerly reIMAGINE).
  • Amplify - Awarded to participants who have attended our Amplify event, including our South Africa Amplify event.







Member Loyalty Badges

Thank you for being a User Group member! You automatically receive a badge that showcases the length of your continuous membership. Ribbons are awarded at the following milestones:
