Hi all,

Is there a way to create an item in multiple companies at once?  Instead of recreate it for each company.

I saw some posts here about a trigger or a sql script, but is it the only way to do it?

Hi Martin, 

Depending on how much time, effort, cost and how often this needs to occur, but I might suggest two options: 

• SmartConnect (this could provide tons of benefits in other business areas, as well) - allows you to update multiple companies at one time
• Using the eConnect Stored Procedures...create your own procedure where you execute the proc against each of the companies you need to insert/update.

While I love triggers there are definitely a lot of downsides to using triggers (performance, actually firing, upgrades, etc.).  I hope you find the right solution for what you are trying to accomplish.

Another option is to have customization on Item Maintenance window, whenever new items will get created in one company, it will automatically get replicated to other Dynamics GP companies databases, this will not need any manual process and also no sql trigger will be involve.
