Is there a way to mass delete account segments? We are cleaning up our chart of accounts and have already merged all the accounts we need. Now we just need to go in and delete segments that are no longer used.

    Hi Autumn,

    I would:
    1) Make a backup of the company database in SQL (in case you do not like the results, you can restore this backup)
    2) Run a Check Links on the Account Master. This will verify the account master integrity and update the SEGCOUNT in the GL40200 table.
    3) In the GL40200 table, it keeps a count on the total accounts using a segment value, in the column SEGCOUNT. Where the number is zero, you should be able to delete those records.

    DELETE FROM GL40200 WHERE SEGCOUNT = 0

NOTE: if you are only focused on one particular segment, you can add "WHERE SGMTNUMB = 3" for segment 3, or whatever makes sense for your data.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Autumn,

I've never deleted account segments before, but if you have a list of the segments you'd like to delete, can use use a macro and tool like Replicator to do most of the work for you?  Create and record a macro to delete one segment.  Then use Replicator with the list of segments (to be deleted) to create a macro that will delete all of the segments for you.  Replicator is easy and free.  You can find more about it at https://rnoldz.com/replicator or come to my session at Summit - Monday, October 10th: 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM.  Please let me know if you have any questions or problems!
