  • 1.  Accidentally deleted Book information from Fixed Asset

    Posted 29 days ago
The Asset Book information was deleted in error from an active asset.  All YTD and LTD depreciation was deleted.

One idea is to delete the entire asset, enter the asset again and depreciate through LTD.  Then we would delete the GL since previous depreciation was already posted.

Any other suggestions on how we can correct?

Any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Michele - do you have a backup? You may be able to restore data from there. Otherwise, you could re-enter the asset.

No need to delete the asset.  Add the book record back by going to Cards-Fixed Assets-Book.  Bring up the asset and select your book.  It should populate the necessary fields.  If you know what the depreciation information was before it was deleted, you can enter all the depreciation to date fields.  Click on Save.

If you don't know what the depreciation information was, go to Microsoft Dynamics GP-Tools-Routines-Fixed Assets-Depreciate One Asset.  Run the process through the date you last ran your depreciation for all your assets.  Go to Microsoft Dynamics GP-Tools-Routines-Fixed Assets-GL Posting.  Enter your posting date and on the select dropdown, select Asset ID.  Enter the Asset ID in the From and To fields and click on insert.  Click on Process.  Since the depreciation is already in the Ledger, go to Transactions-Financial-Batches and bring up the FATRX batch that was just created and delete.

You should be back to normal!
