Final payroll check issued after term date

My company uses Dynamics payroll, but we use Bamboo HR for all of our human resource needs.  We integrate information from Bamboo to Dynamics, but one issue is the term/inactive date.  If we import the term date from Bamboo into Dynamics, a final check issued after the term date will not process.  Has this changed in any of the recent upgrades?  We are on GP 2016.  Is there a prompt that appears if one tries to process a check after the term date?  I realize that the inactive date can be changed, but we want the integration to be as automated and seamless as possible.

    HI Lisa,

If you use GP Payroll and Human Resources, you have access to a termination date in HR and date inactivated in Payroll.  Having a termination date set will not keep the final payroll check from being processed.  Having the date inactivated will exclude the employee from future pay runs.  I suggest populating the termination date, not the date inactivated.  Part of the HR termination checklist can be used to inactivate the employee when it is appropriate - usually after the last payroll check is processed.

Let me know if you need additional information on this.

    Lisa,

Depending on your pay process, you could change the integration to have the "termination date" populate as the term date in the Bamboo HR +15 as an example.  We have some customers that will process the term date as 1 day past the next payroll as employees are typically due earnings from the time worked which may not be turned in until the following week,  Another option would be to use another date in the Employee Maintenance screen as a temporary termination date field and have the interface populate that from the Bamboo HR software then use that date to populate the actual term date field with a SQL job or trigger after payroll processes when there are no unpaid transactions for the employee.
I realize both of the above would require changes in the interface and business process but as Louie mentioned, the functionality needed is in the base Dynamics GP HR function so I do not see the Dynamics GP Payroll function being modified in the future.

Thank you, @David Callery, that helps a lot.  I'm thinking that the field that's preventing the check from being issued is the Date Inactivated field, which appears to be manually entered.  If the Bamboo term date maps to the Last Day Worked field, there shouldn't be an issue.  But, I could be wrong.
