1.  Strange Error message - Google has zero hits

I just rebuilt a new Dynamics GP Client install to include all the products we're using and the Manufacturing module in anticipation of its rollout in the next few months.  I haven't deployed the client in production to more than a few machines yet, but on one of them the user is getting the following error when she goes to print.  It doesn't stop her from printing, it's just an annoyance.  I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Good Morning,

There's an older dynamics community post that references the same report (not the exact error message).  I've included the link below for your reference. I haven't experienced the exact issue you have, but we've had similar issues with Manufacturing.

The general gist that I took from it is that the Dummy_Report form isn't part of any pre-defined security roles and tasks which means you have to create one or modify and existing.  The easiest way to identify that appropriate operation would be to use the GP Power Tools or to set up a dex SQL log to identify the exact fail point which could then be traced for addition to the task/role.  The article does mention that the Customer Server Rep role has access, but they don't mention if it's out of the box or if they have modified that security.

So it actually turns out to be one of those things where when you add on products to Dynamics, it doesn't add basic permissions.  To fix, open Dynamics as sa, then go to Security Tasks.  Select the DEFAULT USER Task, then select Manufacturing, Windows, and Third-Party Products.  Find the three shown in the screenshot below then save.  Have affected users log out and come back in.

Hi Blair

You need to adjust security to give access to the form.

As you have GP Power Tools Installed, capture the error with the Security Profiler and click on Security to open Security Information and then Expand the system node of the tree to see what Tasks and Roles provide access.

Either grant access to one of the Roles, or add a task to an existing role or add the window to an existing task.

Once they have access to the hidden window it will stop complaining.

Hi Blair

I would log that as a bug, the reason is that hidden windows used for programming purposes should be excluded from security so

1) you never see them
2) you don't have to grant  access to them.

This should be changed by the developer.... Microsoft in this case.
