Kits Question

  • 1.  Kits Question

Hi all, wondering if someone can comment whether GP allows a way to transact a kit without fulfilling each of the components.  Two questions

First, we have kits (groups of items) that we don't always need to fulfill each component.  Is there a way to transact a kit without including every single item, can we leave out some of the items?  It's critical to do it this way vs. creating a different part number or additional kit numbers to represent the transactions (long story).

Second question, does the site id play a part in this? Can we set different rules for one site id vs. the other in order to execute your solution for the above?

    Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

    Hi Gina,

We don't use kits, so I'm not extremely knowledgeable on this topic, however, I have been looking into the use of kits and in one video I found it does show the ability to edit the items in the kit at the sales order entry screen.  It's in the last minute of the 5 minute video in the link below.

As for different kit rules between sites... I have not seen that capability anywhere in my research thus far.

    Hi Gina,

I might be a little late on this, but I know that at least from the SOP side you can backorder individual kit components, while invoicing the main kit item.  It will then create a B/O on the remaining components.  Sorry, I can't speak to the site id.
