Title Survey

    Good morning!  I work in our Financial Affairs office but do all the IT functions related to Great Plains.  We use GP for General Ledger, HR and Payroll.   I also assist in Financial Affairs with the University Budget.  My title now is Financial Affairs Budget and System Manager.  I have recently taken on all the upgrades, reporting, etc.  and we don't use our Partner for anything other than maintenance contracts and renewals.  Anyone else have a similar role and a title suggestion?  I'm not really a big title person, but I am being asked for a more appropriate title??  Thoughts?

    @Wendy Kennedy,

    At my last job I "borrowed" the title that my friend, @Beat Bucher, had at a former job: Business Analyst & MS Dynamics Platform Administrator. Hard to abbreviate that one!

    At my current job I'm still the GP Admin, but I've been gifted with several other duties: Business Analyst, IT generalist, and manager of the QMS systems we've taken on. So my title now is: Business Development Analyst & QMS Manager.

    I think that that "MS Dynamics Platform Administrator" might suit your situation as an addendum.

    Regards,

    Hi Wendy,
    Steve Erbach is right :-) and you know, a job title doesn't say much about what you're doing in your everyday life.. for me it was just so HR could put something up on the Business Cards they need to get printed.. in reality people like GP admins are more often Jack / Jill-of-all-trades and wear multiple hats..
    When someone asked in a conference session or on the expo floor what I was doing, I'd offer several choices : DBa (accidental of course), developer, business analyst, system architect, IT administrator, troubleshooter and end-user support.. pick what fits the best at the moment :-)
    However, as the saying goes, "Clothes do not make the man".
    Enjoy de day !

    @Beat Bucher and @Wendy Kennedy,

    >> However, as the saying goes, "Clothes do not make the man". <<

    On the other hand, as Mark Twain said, "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society."

    @Wendy Kennedy I think a lot of us struggle with this. I'm our "IT Manager"...but have nothing to do with our network, other than overseeing the people that do. I am technically our "GP Admin"..."Inventory Control/Materials Manager"..."MRP/ERP Guru"..."GP Analyst"...and the list goes on. I'm interested to see what suggestions you may get for an appropriate title.
