    Good morning,
We are evaluating our current reporting system (Management Reporter) and would like to explore other alternatives. So I would like to hear from you about the reporting tool your company is using, how it works with GP and whether you like it or not (and why).

    Thanks and happy Friday!

Prospero by MSX Group.  We use for reporting, budgeting and department access to reports and grants.  We have complex reporting and budgeting and Prospero does everything we need.  Department heads appreciate its ease of use.  I recommend it!

We have used Vivid reports for several years. Vivid Reports uses an Excel interface, can consolidate all your GP databases and drills down into GP Transaction Details.

Custom reports either in SSRS or Smartlists work for us.

    Hi Joy,

It depends on the type of reporting. For traditional financial reporting, budgeting and planning we have a dozens of customers that are quite happy with BI360 from Solver Global.

If you need to do more than standard financial reporting and want to do more analysis and visualizing your data, Power BI is a great option.

We've liked what we've seen from Prospero & Prophix for an almost end-all, be-all financial budgeting and reporting applications.  If you're looking for more, there are some other great tools out there like those that have been mentioned above as well as SmartList Builder & SmartView.

Care to share what you're looking for that MR doesn't fit the bill for?  We're at somewhat of a crossroads at the moment ourselves when it comes to MR & financial reporting.

Everyone has made some great suggestions already.  We have also just been introducing to our clients ActivReporter  ( from nQativ as a great tool that is easy to use, low cost and handles core financial reporting very easily.  We find that sometimes depending on the specific reporting items needed different tools do them better.  Many of our clients use a few different tools to meet their needs.

    Good Morning.

We are using GP modules like project accounting, fixed assets, financials, sale order processing and payroll. and our needs meet using smartlist builder/ smartlist designer.

We also use analytical accounting for tracking costs/ revenues of departments, and its dimensional and multilevel data query wizards do wonders for us.

In short, system built in reports fulfill users demand.

Last year at Summit in Nashville a new reporting tool was debuted by Olympic Systems. We really like it because as an ISV it supports accessing our reports from specific GP forms which enhances the user experience.  As an example it allows the quality specifications report that is part of our quality control solution to be accessed from the item forms in GP so users don't have to access our quality application separately.  There is a video on their web site of the core behavior which includes rendering of the reports on any platform you can view it here or on the more videos page take a look at the video Execute Any DevExpress Report from any Primary Dynamics GP Form.

As others have so eloquently put it "lots of choices".

    Hi @Joy Jiang

Some excellent suggestions have been made.

    Here's my take:

Jet Reports is an Excel Integrated tool for financial Reporting (income statements, Balance Sheets, etc).  They provide a FREE tool for financial reporting (Microsoft pushed them as a "replacement" for MR a couple of years ago).  This free version is a "no consolidation" tool so works only with single databases at a time.  They have other versions that are at a cost that can do more complex reporting - up to an Enterprise version that has a datawarehouse, etc.  They can report on even sub-ledger data (not just financial data)

Solver (BI360) is another highly acclaimed tool with the same functionality as Jet and they are awesome as well.  They can report on even sub-ledger data (not just financial data)

ActivReporter is another awesome and low-cost tool that is excel integrated - they focus ONLY on Financial data, but.  OMG they are great!

SSRS and SmartLists are not awesome for financial reporting tools, but if you have a talented developer on staff these can also be utilized.

There are many, many other tools out there.  I would recommend you do some research first to find the right fit!
