1.  Activity Tracking to Determine Windows used by user

Posted 4 days ago
We are going to utilize activity tracking in GP to audit windows and reports a user uses in their job function in order to build better security profiles.  I will be turning on "Attempts to open a window" and "attempts to print a report".  My question is how much system overhead will this cause.  We have approx. 30 active users.

Hi Michael -

In order to determine the amount of overhead, how long to you plan to leave activity tracking running?

Hi

Security Activity Tracking is a feature of GP Power Tools (Administrator Tools module, Security Log feature).

It does not log every attempt, but rather tracks the statistics, counting how many granted and denied denied attempts there have been. You will not notice any overhead.

Combine this with Security Analyzer feature which can compare what a user has access to vs what they actually use and you have an invaluable tool to help with security.

Add the Security Profiler, Security Information and Deny Based Security and it makes getting GP Power Tools a "no brainer".
