    We're finally ready! The Level Up! Midwest regional meeting registration page is ready! April 16 & 17 in Wisconsin Dells!

    You may have seen a few messages on the Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, or Green Bay home pages about our Q2 GPUG meeting, Level Up! Midwest. You may have been unsure how you could register for it; but you can now be sure!Level Up!

    Just click on the Level Up! image to get to the registration page.

    Some neat things for you to be aware of:

    1. Yes, this is a separate registration page from the usual place you go to register for the Local User Group meetings for Milwaukee, Green Bay, Chicago, or Minneapolis events.
    2. You do not have to set up a profile page or join or log in or anything like that to register for the meeting. It is totally open to anyone. We're encouraging people that aren't even GPUG members to join us in Wisconsin Dells April 16 & 17. We just need your first & last names, your Company name, and your email address to register. That's it.
    3. This event has three no-cost benefits:
      1. NO REGISTRATION FEE! We wanted to keep this event free, just as our quarterly Chapter meetings are free.
      2. THREE FREE MEALS! GPUG and our event sponsors are footing the bill for lunch on Thursday, April 16th; and breakfast and lunch on Friday, April 17th.
      3. FREE PARKING! The parking lot at the Ho-Chunk Casino Hotel in Wisconsin Dells is huge! It's a 56-acre property and you will have no trouble finding a parking spot.
    4. The Ho-Chunk Casino Hotel is offering attendees a very good guest room rate on Thursday night, April 16th: only $89 (plus hotel taxes). The rooms have been renovated within the last three or four years. When you reserve your room, use the Booking ID 10926 to get the best rate. I stayed in the hotel on Feb. 11th when I went to give the site the old double-O. I stayed in the lowest cost room and I got:
      1. King-size pillow top bed with plenty of pillows
      2. Mini-fridge
      3. Microwave oven (didn't have one at Summit last year!... you may need to request one, though)
      4. 4-cup coffee maker
      5. Ironing board & iron
      6. In-room safe
      7. Big-screen TV
      8. Rainfall showerhead
      9. Pull-out computer desk
      10. Black-out curtains
    5. Unfortunately, we must limit this event to 150 attendees. So, please treat this like a wedding invitation! That is, if you register but then can't make it, please let us know because even though GPUG and our excellent sponsors are picking up the tab for three meals, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch! We need to know how many will be there; and you can help us keep a tight rein on expenses by letting us know if you're unable to attend. Thank you!

    This event can be very inexpensive. Your boss shouldn't have too much trouble justifying it in your company budget!

    We're pulling together the roster of speakers to fill the 18 separate sessions in two tracks: GP and Power BI/Power Platform. Rest assured, you will see speakers that are totally worth your time!

    So register on the Level Up! Midwest page. Remember, no GPUG membership required! No profile or login required! And, man! This is a heck of a value! We'll see you on April 16 & 17 in Wisconsin Dells!

    #LevelUpMidwest

    A couple pictures from the Ho-Chunk Casino Hotel in Wisconsin Dells, site of the Level Up! Midwest GPUG/Power BI/Power Platform Local User Group meeting, April 16 & 17:

    This nice little bar is right across from the hotel elevators. Perfect place for on-site Advanced Networking Opportunities (ANOs)!

    The 1st-floor Atrium. The entrance to the ballroom is to the left and the Casino is just on the other side. Note the number of entrance doors on the right: there are 14(!!). This is a popular place!

    This is the undivided Breakout Room. It'll be divided into three Summit-sized breakout rooms during Level Up! Midwest.

    And a kind of cool view of the Atrium from the second floor balcony. There's a waterfall, of course! Two or three restaurants on this level including a fairly fancy steakhouse. The Ho-Chunk Casino managed to snag a chef from one of the famous hotels in Las Vegas to run operations in little old Wisconsin Dells!

    There'll be plenty of room for the 150 lucky souls who join us at Level Up! Midwest on April 16 & 17. Register here! and we'll see you then!

    Sincerely,

    While I can't vouch for the meeting space or hotel, I can tell you that this is a gorgeous, clean casino on a beautiful property. I can't wait to join everyone there in April!
    This is out of the "downtown Dells" area by a few miles (SUPER easy to get to), but there are a TON of "tourist" things to do in the Dells, even before the prime summer season! Hmmm...I might need to visit my favorite winery, grab a Monk burger and play a round of mini-golf ;)

    @Aleiha Hanson,

    So, which winery would that be?

    • Broken Bottle
    • Von Klaus
    • Baraboo Bluff
    • Balanced Rock
    • Mead King

    Enquiring minds!

    NOTE: The Casino is not a smoke-free facility. I merely mention these things!

    To my fellow wine connoisseurs, my favorite Dells winery is Fawn Creek. Lovely log cabin on about 50+ acres.
    Best part, there is ALWAYS free tastings and they have live music on the weekends.

    Hi, @Kristin Crass,

    @Aleiha Hanson, @Brian Lambertz of the Minneapolis GPUG Chapter, and I will be involved with selecting the content for this event. Now that we have the registration page up and running, there's a link there for presenters to propose sessions for Level Up. We've already had a few people jump on the announcement to let us know they're interested. There are also a couple sponsors that have expressed interest in this event. The ramp up will be rapid!

    I expect that we should be able to post a complete itinerary by March 10th. It will be all live, in-person presentations, 18 of them, between GP and Power Platform.

    If you have a suggestion for us, we'd be happy to hear it!

    Sincerely,

    Hello Steve,

    I'm wondering if there will be HR/Payroll track?  It is a bit of a drive for me so I would like to know if there is relevant information.

    @STACY HANSON I'm not sure yet all the topics that will be covered, but we'll have a wide variety. Stay tuned for posts and updated itineraries as we secure presenters. Hope you're able to join us!

    @STACY HANSON,

    We'll have three tracks over the two days, with 6 sessions per track. That's a total of 18 sessions. There very possibly could be an HR/Paroll session or two (depends on the proposals we get), but not an entire track. This is, after all, a Chapter meeting, not Summit! It's a Chapter meeting on steroids, but a Chapter meeting nonetheless.

    At the Minneapolis Chapter meeting last Tuesday (Feb. 11th) @Brian Lambertz was talking about a car pool for Minnesotans. I'd get in touch with him!

    Sincerely,

    @Steve Erbach

    When you get more details on the exact sessions, please share :-)  I'm highly interested in this, but my CFO likes to know exactly what he gets before he agrees to spend money ;-)

    Thanks and hope to see everyone there!

    @Mark Verbeek,

    We will definitely share! Everyone, repeat, everyone is asking for a list of presentations! We definitely get it. The four principal Local User Group leaders -- @Brian Lambertz in Minneapolis, @Aleiha Hanson in Milwaukee, @Katie Graves in Chicago, and yours truly in Green Bay -- are dancing as fast as we can!

    Hi Steve,

    Is this open to people registered in the midwest?  I live in the midwest (St. Louis) but work for a company in CA.  It is quite the drive for me, but I am considering attending if allowed. :)

    Thank you,
    Stefanie

    @Stefanie Christiana,

    This event is special with respect to GPUG membership: you don't even have to be a GPUG or Power BI UG member. The idea is to draw not only members but people who haven't heard of GPUG or who haven't joined. No cost for them, no cost for you... even if you were coming from Australia! Well, you'd have quite a plane ticket to pay for!

    So, you're allowed!

    So, I registered but now it turns out I need to cancel.  I have a new trip planned (hopefully that doesn't get canceled) a week before and just can't take the time for both trips. :(  I can't figure out how to cancel though and don't want to hold a spot.  The confirmation email didn't have a link to cancel.  I went to the registration and couldn't find anything either.  Can you help?

    Thanks!

    @Stefanie Christiana,

    I'm sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it! You're right: there doesn't appear to be a clearcut way to cancel a reservation. I will pass along your request to @Leah Thvedt at GPUG, and we'll make your slot available to someone else.

    Thank you for following up and being a good GPUG Citizen!
