Concur Invoice vs. GP Workflow

Does anyone have experience with both Concur Invoice, and GP Workflow for AP? Looking for some pro's and con's of both.
We are looking at Concur for expense reports, and looked at the Invoice option also. But we have also never tried the GP workflow, so I don't want to skip something we already own if its as easy and/or user friendly.

    Katie,
    We currently use both.

    Pros to Concur
    - OCR
    - Approval "Hub" for managers
    - More tailored reports available

    Pros to GP
    - You already own it
    - Ability to drill-back to document
    - Ability to make a requirement in the system that no invoice goes through without proper approvals
    - Ability to manage your own reports, workflow notifications, etc.
    - Microsoft seems to be committed to it.  Each of the last few versions have included a high number of enhancements to doc attach & workflows.

    Cons to Concur
    - Price
    - Cost to setup Integration & maintain integration to GP
    - No ability to drill-back to invoice from GP

    Cons to GP
    - No approval hub for managers, have to rely on emails & reminders
    - No OCR
    - No ability to access uploaded documents outside of GP (all sit in GP SQL database that can only be accessed w/ GP interface).

Other items to consider.  W/ GP 2018, there are quite a few enhancements to the workflow processes that you might benefit from.  I'd recommend checking out the new features guides for the last few versions if you aren't already on 2018.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi @Katie Graves

I agree with most of what Kyle says, but to me they are two different problems to solve.

Concur is for saving time with entering invoices - field personnel incurring expenses would be able to enter those expenses in the Concur app on a phone, etc.  These entries would then go through a work-flow process and hit GP in any way you tell the integration between Concur and GP to do this.  In other words, no direct entry in GP by field personnel and no direct entry by GP users.

If you use straight GP with workflow you'd have to consider that the field personnel can't enter their own expenses, etc.  You'd need a license for them to be able to even do a requisition in GP.  The workflow would work just as well, but it's not necessarily all workflow related.

Again, to me, there is a specific need for field personnel to be able to be self-sufficient with expenses as well and have the workflow approvals around those expenses before they hit GP.

Katie - you don't mention looking at other products but Gorilla Expense integrates directly with GP (you have to write an integration to GP with Concur or buy the Wipfli Brittenford integration).  It has mobile capabilities, a very nice mileage calculator, is very easy to implement and has two types of licensing - unlimited reports per user or buy a bucket of reports 125, 250, 500, etc) to share across all users.

Aside from invoicing... As @Mary Lenehan mentions, Gorilla is fantastic for employee expense reporting.  I'd highly recommend checking them out!

Part of the appeal of Concur for us is that it can do expense reporting, and also AP invoices/workflow. I haven't seen many products that offer both.

I"d check out what all have said as options and then add in Metaviewer and Dynamic Point.
