  • 1.  Office 365 32-bit Outlook Client and MAPI Email Setting

    Posted Jan 28, 2022 04:04 PM
Has anyone on GP 2018 R2 or below successfully been able to use 32-bit Office 365 client to send emails from GP? We cannot use exchange for the email setting until we upgrade with the TLS changes, but we are rolling out Office 365 with our migration and EFT Remittances are no longer working to open outlook and send the email. They get stuck in the user's drafts folder so they have to manually send them. With batches of over 100 EFTs, this is extremely tedious and not a long term workaround. Both 64-bit and 32-bit Office 365 clients experience this same issue, but Office 2016 32-bit does not.

    Hi Charlene,

Email is getting tricky, thanks to changes in software and email security. Take a look at this link:
    https://community.dynamics.com/gp/b/dynamicsgp/posts/dynamics-gp-workflow-intermittent-emails-failing

    Also this:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-gp/installation/email-troubleshooting-guide

    Hope that helps,

    Hi Mark,

Thank you for the response, but I have already looked at both of those links, along with about 50 others inside GPUG and outside of GPUG. Since we are using MAPI, the first link regarding TLS does not apply and the GP email troubleshooting guide did not help at all. The 32-bit client of O365 did not work so I was curious if anyone has gotten it to work.

We are stuck on MAPI until we upgrade GP to at least one iteration higher than we are on.

Are your GP Clients on the user's computers, or on Terminal Server or Citrix? How many users?
There is much gold in all those links mentioned, but hard to sift through for the nuggets pertaining to your systems.

My last place used Citrix, GP 2018 R2, and we had the older Office version installed on the servers. With MAPI.
That allowed us to continue emailing PDF Invoices from mail accounts set up on the Citrix servers.

It may not be the best solution, but the older, working Office Client may need to stay until you upgrade GP to 18.4
with all the Office & MFA enhancements.

    Hi Charlene,

I have been helping several clients with email issues the past 2 weeks.  I was stuck on one environment after all of the settings suggested until I followed the blog steps from this one from last week.  It doesn't make sense to me that even after opting into the older versions of TLS that the steps in the blog are needed to force GP to use TLS 1.2, but it did the trick for me on GP 2018 RTM:
