I'm trying to complete the installation of GP Analysis Cubes but I'm receiving an error when it get's to the point of creating the data warehouse.

I have attached screenshots of where I am and the error generated.

BTW it says I don't have Dynamics database but of course I do.

The one thing to consider is that I restored the Dynamics and company database to the server I'm setting up for Analysis cubes.

    I'm using GP2015 R2 databases on SQL 2014

I don't think restoring creates all the necessary linkages and procedures.  I am pretty sure that what you'll have to do is to delete what you have and create a Dynamics instance from scratch then skip the setup.  Restore from your backups over the top of your DYNAMICS db and any of the production companies you want included in Analysis Cubes.  This will maintain all the critical linkages and allow you to use your production data.  Then when you go to setup Analysis cubes it should work.

I actually tried it on a true GP install environment and received the same message. Permissions?

    Issue resolved!

Crazy Microsoft, should have expected this.

The problem was that my Dynamics database was proper cased as Dynamics, the install requires the Dynamics database to be upper case DYNAMICS.

So you have a case-sensitive collation in use? That certainly would explain the problems.  We just spent 6 months getting rid of ours because most third-party vendors don't build for it.  Looks like in this case Microsoft didn't build for it either.

    Glad you found the solution.

I'm getting this error, has anyone seen this?

The error actually says that the object (database) doesn't exist or the user doesn't have privileges to modify the object.  This could also be a case sensitivity issue as "dynamics" and "DYNAMICS" will be the same under a case-insensitive collation but which will be different objects under a case-sensitive collation.

One thing you might try is to start up SQL Server Profiler and then run the installer.  That way you'll be able to see the exact SQL being sent to the database and you'll be able to see what objects are being examined.

If you don't have this tool or access to run it, get your DBA to assist.
