Need to void partially applied credit memo

Original balance of credit memo was $266.80.
A $35 expense was applied against the credit memo.
The balance of the credit memo is $231.80.
We received a refund from the vendor and so we need to void the balance of the credit memo.
When I try to void the remaining credit balance in GP, I received the following message:

    Please advise.  Thanks, Denise

    Hi Denise,

You will need to create a "Dummy Invoice" for $231.80 and then apply it to the credit memo of $266.80.  After posting the Dummy invoice will become history.
Now you can void the original credit memo of $266.80 and the dummy invoice.

    Hope this helps!
