Thanks to all who came out to our largest meeting EVER! Thank you to @Sondra Ainsworth @Carlo Tiu and the rest of NCPA for hosting, their conference room fit all 33+ of us perfectly. Thank you to @Sydney Johnson for ordering lunch for our group, it was delicious!

We kicked off the meeting at noon with lunch and informal networking. After people had time to settle in we went around and did introductions, including sharing what we wanted to get out of the meeting and if we attended Summit and if so, what we learned there. In summary people are looking to network, find resources, and learn new things about GP. In sharing on Summit, members shared that they found Summit to be a great opportunity for users to learn tips, gather info on add ons to GP, and more. Zubin shared an awesome thing he learned about utilizing SQL Notebooks to store procedures and generate reports for an audit, month end or whatever other purpose you can think of. Zubin will be uploading info on that to our resources. So go check it out!

Also, during introductions, we established that our goal for the Sacramento GPUG Chapter is Chapter of the Year at GPUG Summit. Be sure to get your registration for the next Summit in Nashville (you know - so you can be there to help accept the award)!

This quarter we had a very special visit from @Amber Bell all the way from Connecticut! The Training Dynamo herself did 2 educational sessions. The first session was on year end close and she had some amazing tips. Feel free to post your favorite below! Then with a quick break in the middle we did a second session on really cool reports using GP and SQL views. We got to see some great tips on creating "views", how to utilize Victoria Yuden's website as a resource and more. And did you know @Amber Bell wrote the book(s) on this stuff?! Literally! We will get Amber's slides posted to resources also. If you missed this - check those out!

Following those two amazing, educational and engaging sessions, we wrapped up the meeting by discussing plans for the future. We are planning our next meeting in February. Some topics of interest include:
    • utilizing document attach/going paperless -
      • What are other users doing to reduce the paper? Printing of all posting reports?
      • Best practices? What doesn't work?
    • What's new with GP
    • Upgrades - best practices for preparing for an upgrade

We are open to your super awesome venue ideas and bring your friends! The more members, the more knowledge we'll have and the more sharing we can do!

    To being the best!
