Question for @Joni Welling (but for anyone), you talked about this today at our chapter meeting, and I no sooner get back to the office, and I'm asked a question about combining multiple companies on one statement in Management Reporter.  I'm assuming that the companies that you have in Dynamics all have the same G/L account numbers?  The reason for my question is that we are exploring partnering with another organization that also serves people with disabilities, who also use GP, but they have an entirely different G/L structure.  We'd like to have one report that shows YTD for a particular service - ours in one column, theirs in another column.  It sounds like the key is in the reporting tree of Management Reporter.  Anybody have any experience with this?  I'm not even sure at this point what their account structure looks like.

The short answer is yes you can combine multiple companies in MR, by using a reporting tree.  You would have to be able to connect to their database though. . .   The other thing you would need to look at is how you build your MR reports, are you using account number or account category.  If you use account category it would make it significantly easier.  To build the reporting tree I would work with your partner, as I stink at building them :)

It is completely possible to put two different companies even with entirely different G/L structures in the same Management Reporter report.

First step is to identify whether you will be able to access their information from your Management Reporter environment. You'll likely need to work with you IT folks to get their information added as a GP data connection in MR.

Once you have their data available to you in MR, in the report row layout you'll end up with two data connections. One will  link to your financial dimension. The other will link to their financial dimension.  If you have the default row definitions in your MR environment you can see an example of this where the report has a link to a Dynamics AX environment and a Dynamics GP environment.

Then you'll work on setting up the tree so that it pulls in both their data and your data.

After that you'll set-up the column. In the column layout there is a row called Reporting Unit. That is where you'll select the unit from the tree.

Of course, this is all high level steps, and it's assuming you'll be able to connect to their GP from your MR.

Keep us posted on how it goes!
