Flat lining BOM

    Good afternoon Everyone,

My company is the process of changing the way we do business in GP. We normally run an indented BOM. However, we are converting to a flat BOM. We are doing this due to the shop floor complexities that are causing issues. These issues have to do with financials, WIP sub, and too many MOs. We are instead looking towards phantoms, sequences, and groupings to flat line our BOMs. What we are running into, on complex jobs, is the amount of work that has to be done on the front end to save a couple MOs for the floor. Is there another manufacturing company that uses the Manufacturing module and are running this way that could help us out? We feel like we are missing out on something. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Tomme -

Your post includes a rather large process change, so that makes me wonder if you've sought out your partner for guidance.

Lots of issues are solved on our message boards each day, but I believe this one might be bigger than a message board post can be expected to handle.  Please update this post if you (and presumably your partner) determine a plan of action - thanks in advance!

    Hey Bob,

I have reached out to our partners on this subject. The big question I have in the message above is if there is another Manufacturing company that is running a flat BOM process that could help us out. We feel like we are missing something important and making this a lot harder than it has to be.
