Inventory in GP2018

    Hello
We are running GP2018.  We have multi whse/site locations.  We would like to start tracking inventory in 1 site.
We have activated multi bin locations in a test environment.  It appears that you cannot limit inventory tracking by site.
Does anyone know if it can be done?
Issue we would have is that products ordered to be received in other sites, that we do not need to track inventory in , requires a bin location when receiving is done.

    Thank you

    Hi Mary,

When you enable Multi Bins, you will not be able to avoid the bin assignment for received items.  However you can work around it by the bin assignment to happen in the background so it does not interrupt the users during the receiving process.

To do that simply open the Site card, click Bins and assign a default Bin for Purchase Receipts.

    I hope this helps.

    Mary,

Adding on to Wassim's good idea...  if you define only one bin in the site and be creative with the name, it will be transparent to the users.  Maybe give it a name the same as the site name, or "N/A", etc.

We have one company where all our inventory is assigned to the site "NONE" (meaning we're not tracking things).  Makes it pretty intuitive.

But I think what you're getting at is that you have a series of products where you want part of the inventory tracked and part not tracked - according to warehouse.  You can definitely set up the different warehouses, but inventory tracking has to be either on or off for an item - meaning that you will be able to see how many are in the "tracked" warehouse/site and how many are in the other "untracked" site(s) just generically.  The only other idea I can think of atm is that you could set up two similar part numbers and mark one as tracked and the other not.  Would be a bit messy though.

    Thank you everyone!
Giving a default bin to the site we are not tracking inventory for is the answer.
Like the idea of using "none"

    Thanks
