GP Crashes clicking Navigation List

    Hello Everyone,

    I am hoping you can help me with a problem that has mystified me.  I have a user that uses the Purchasing Module.  She clicks on Purchasing in the Navigation Pane then she clicks on the "Payables Batches" navigation list.  She waits for a minute and then GP Crashes on her.  I don't have this problem when I click on nor do a couple of other users.  It seems to be a user related problem.  I have tried deleting all of her DB user accounts and then resetting her password to rebuild them.  I deleted her activity from the following tables: SY07110, SY07121, SY07125, SY07130 and SY07140.

    If anyone has some insight on what I'm running into I would greatly appreciate your advice.

    Thanks

    Hi Brenda,
    do you have GP Power Tools by any chance ?

    If yes, I would suggest to start logging mode, then share the 3 log files here so we can take a look and maybe see where it crashed.

    Thanks Luc.  I do not have GP Power Tools.  I did however run the standard GP Debugging tool.  Attached is a copy of the file but this is an excerpt:

    'ActionStatus_FormatSummaryMessage() of form syListObj', "", 1-0-0-1-1-1-2-2
    'GetListID of form syListActionStatusObj', 1-0-0-1-1-1-2-2, 0, 0
    'GetListPropertiesForListID of form syListObj', 0, 304, 0, "", 0, 0, 0, 0
    'ListCommands_FindListID() of form Main Menu', 0, 0, 304
    'ListCommand_GetCommandTag() of form Main Menu', 0, 39
    'ListCommand_GetOldIDs of form Main Menu', 39, 0, 0, 0
    'ListCommand_GetListName() of form Main Menu', "", 39
    'ListCommand_GetType() of form Main Menu', 0, 39
    'SuppressException', 0, 0, 21, 0, 1597, 0, 0, 11, -3003, 124, "Script 'GetSummaryStatusMsgText of form ListObj_Batches' not foun"
    'IsServiceMode()', 0
    'GetDateAndTime of form syListActionStatusObj', 1-0-0-1-1-1-2-2, 0/0/0000, 12:00:00 AM
    'GetFailureCount() of form syListActionStatusObj', 0, 1-0-0-1-1-1-2-2
    'GetSuccessCount() of form syListActionStatusObj', 0, 1-0-0-1-1-1-2-2
    'GetActionName() of form syListActionStatusObj', "", 1-0-0-1-1-1-2-2
    'GetHeaderStatusID() of form syListActionStatusObj', 0, 1-0-0-1-1-1-2-2
    'ListMessageBar_Add of form syListObj', 1-0-0-1-0-0-0-0, 5, "6/1/2020; Post action completed. 6 succeeded; 1 failed.", 5998, "", "", ""
    'List_IsUIFormOpen() of form syListObj', 0, 1-0-0-1-0-0-0-0
    'GetListType() of form syListObj', 0, 1-0-0-1-0-0-0-0
    'GetCommandTag() of form syListObj', 0, 1-0-0-1-0-0-0-0

    I see the "'ListMessageBar_Add of form syListObj'" line throughout the log with different dates and different number succeeded etc.  I'm just not sure how to read this.

    Hi @Brenda Rogers

    1) Is she on her own installation of Dynamics GP? Or, are you guys all using the same installation on Terminal Servers?

    2) If it is shared Term Servers, is there a server farm?  If so, can you identify which server she is using or is it happening on both servers.

    3) If it is just one server in the farm, can you log onto that server and get the same error as her error using your own login?

    Question 1, if the answer is her own Dynamics GP install, does she get the error on a different machine?  If 'yes' then it could be her permissions or something stuck in the tables with her user ID.

    Question 2 and 3, if the answer is shared terms and there is a load-balancing farm and you get the same error when logging on to that server then it's a problem with the GP install on that server, if the answer is you do not get the same error you might be looking at permissions or something stuck with her user ID.

    You may need to consult your partner and have them help out looking for the issue.

    However, all of that said, I do endorse GP Power Tools, they are crazy inexpensive and you can even get them on a trial basis @David Musgrave can help you get a copy.  They absolutely help with all kinds of things including debugging, but also securities, etc.

    Thanks Jo for your response.

    We are using a single installation on a server and using Remote Desktop functionality to access it.  I have logged in as her on my machine and get the same error message.  We also have a test server and I have copied Production to Test and have the same problem on that server as well.  I personally feel like it's a user setting of sorts.  I have compared her to another user that is setup the same way and can't find any differences.  You're right, it may be time to consult our partner.

    I would be interested to learn more about Power Tools.  I look forward to learning more about it and seeing if my IT Team will approve a trial installation.

    One thing I have seen a couple of times is duplicate menu group in Dynamics GP for specific user.

    Something like, when logging in as the user experiencing problems, going under Sales, I was seeing the menu group "Sales / Transactions" with all its options appearing multiple time on the screen.

    When this is happening, I have a script that fix it.

    Is this the case for your user ?
