Has anyone experienced the situation where their smartlists are displaying debits under the originating credit column and credits under the originating debit column.  If you did what caused it and how did you resolve it.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Mary

can you please add a screen shot of the SmartList your referring to?  I would like to test some things in my test company.

    Thank you!

Here is a screen shot.  The $71.55 shows as a debit but it actually is a credit.  You can see the debit in the smartlist and you can also see this same amount on the transaction entry zoom screen shot as a credit.

    Hi Mary.

In your SmartList add the Journal Entry column so you can verify the lines in the SmartList to the correct JE #.  I'm thinking maybe there was a correction to the JE and that is why it is showing up as a Debit vs a Credit (was JE backed out perhaps).  Let me know if this doesn't help you any.

    Hello Mary Kay,

This is because with the release of 2015 R2, Microsoft reversed the order that debits and credit are displayed.

Before credits were displayed first, but this the that release, debits were made to display first.

I have seen a couple of issues where the headers did not switch, but the columns did, so that the debits are labeled as credits and the reverse is true of credits. Other than this one issue, the value and SmartLists are accurate, just mislabeled, but that can be fixed.

The easiest way to correct this is is to click on the 'Columns' button at the top of SmartList and edit the names, as shown here. Just be sure to re-save any Favorites you may have created.

Thanks everyone.  The exact problem was because we had upgraded and the "Display Name" did not change.

    Thanks again.  Very helpful.

We are having the same problem with several of our favorites under the Account Transactions folder.  The default or * is correct, but several other reports listed below have the Debit Display name, but credit Original name when looking at the Columns.  Is there a simple fix for all the reports?   Or do we have to go through each one individually and fix?

This is an old thread but it happens time again that you stumble across customers where the same issue occurs in SmartList. The origin of the problem is in eOne's SmartList Builder replacing the out-of-the-box GP SL and not having fixed the column labels when Microsoft swapped them a few versions back in GP..

The fix that is suggested by eOne on the web site ( Smartlist Builder with column names reversed - eOne Solutions ) is a quick one, but it has the drawback of wiping out all your favorites under the Account Transactions folder in SL.. I've made the mistake one day on a customer setup, and the users weren't that happy that all their favorites had vanished.

The manual fix to this problem is to open each favorite and go into the "Columns" pane to just rename the left side of the column for the "Debit Amount" & "Credit Amount" fields to match what's on the right side. Click Ok and save your favorite again and you're done. But it has to be done for every single favorite.

    Hope that helps.
