Does Planning Lead Time in GP go by 5 day work days or 7 day calendar days? Is this an option that is set up by us (the company), or defaulted in GP?

Planning Lead Time is set on the Item Vendor Maintenance card by item.  It is set manually.  If a primary vendor is specified for an item on the Item Quantities Maintenance Card for the item / site, MRP will use this lead time. If there is no Primary Vendor selected, then the Purchasing LT on the Item Resource Planning Card will be used.   All lead-times are set manually. You can set the purchasing lead-time  en-mass from the Site Resourcing Planning Card. It will only update the Purchase LT on the Item Resource Planning Cards if you tell it to roll change down to all parts on that site. Use caution, it will overwrite any previously set Purchasing LT. I'm not aware any mass update for the Item Vendor Cards.

GP doesn't distinguish 5 or 7 day weeks. Instead it looks at the down-day constraints referenced in Aref's reply. The down day constraints prevent a messages falling on a down days as established in the GP Manufacturing calendar. For example, depending on your settings: if week ends (Sat & Sun) are down days and the purchased item is required on a Thursday and has a lead-time of 5 days, this would put the release date on the prior Saturday. Since Saturday is down date, GP will back the date up  1 more day to the prior Friday.  GP is assuming that no one is working on the Saturday to release the purchase order.

    Hope this helps
