    Hello,

Would anyone be able to advise us as to how we can resolve this error message for specific user that we haven't been able to remove?:

"A save operation on table IV_Item_MSTR failed accessing SQL data"  (See attached image)

The known issues related to this error is that the user is unable to clean a backorder flag or run an adjustment batch.

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi Carolyn,

The issue seems to have 2 parts... user specific... and the IV00101...

... Have the user log out and check if there are any reference to his log in in the SY00800 and SY00801 tables... there shouldn't be any.

... Is the issue item-specific as well? If other users are to process this user's transaction - are they able to do it?

... It's also possible that there are invalid item records... you can try these queries... ideally, they should not return any results:

    -- check for invalid values
select ITEMNMBR, ITEMDESC, UOMSCHDL, ITEMTYPE, VCTNMTHD from IV00101
where ITEMDESC = '' or ITEMDESC = NULL
or UOMSCHDL = '' or UOMSCHDL = NULL
    or ITEMTYPE not in (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
    or VCTNMTHD not in (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

-- items that have 'invalid' valuation methods
select ITEMNMBR, ITEMDESC, UOMSCHDL, ITEMTYPE, VCTNMTHD from IV00101
    where ITEMTYPE in (1, 2)
    and VCTNMTHD not in (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

-- items that should not have a valuation method
select ITEMNMBR, ITEMDESC, UOMSCHDL, ITEMTYPE, VCTNMTHD from IV00101
    where ITEMTYPE in (3, 4, 5, 6)
    and VCTNMTHD not in (0)

    Hi Carolyn,
May it be possible that someone enabled the PSTL Item Master trigger in that company to replicate items into another company ? the error message could be the result of the fact that those users don't have access to the ^replication' company in GP ..

    Hi @Carolyn Calvo

It may be even simpler.  If the employee's computer is going to sleep, then they are losing connection to the SQL Server and just needs to shut GP down and re-open.
