    Hi Everyone -

Do any of you use Project Accounting in GP and integrate it into BI360 for budgeting and reporting?

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi @Brenda Emond

I think we may need more clarification here.  BI360 is a reporting tool that looks at and reports on GP databases, it is not an information storage software. So, it normally isn't integrated into.

Let us know exactly what you are trying to do, such as are you attempting to write a report on the Project Budgets USING BI360 and we can provide more in-depth advice.

    Hi Jo -

We are trying to implement BI360 as a budgeting tool, and our project accounting, payroll and GL information is "dumped" into the BI360 data warehouse.  I realize it is a reporting tool, however we are not utilizing it for that just yet, as our priority is getting it setup to do budgeting.

I'm wondering how other organizations have their budgeting templates setup; are they bringing in detailed employee/payroll information from both Payroll and Project tables as well as revenue & expense information from the General Ledger in order to perform their budgets?

    Thank you.

    Hi @Brenda Emond

The answer to budgeting and how other companies do it is rather interesting and convoluted.  I have been a GP Consultant for 14 years now and have never seen any two companies do it alike.

I have one client that budgets out in such a detailed fashion that no budgeting software can handle it and so they have developed spreadsheets and some that just budget at the account level and some that budget at the category level.

Project Accounting is it's own complication, but you, in essence, set up the individual budgets for each and every project and in many cases they are not the same budget project to project.  You CAN use BI360 to pull information from past Projects to see how they went as a guide for future budgeting.

I will say most companies do not publish individual employee pay because it is confidential, but you can build reports that give averages per job description or department and build a report that looks at the trends that happened over the last year or two or five!

Unfortunately, there is not one 'right way' to budget and therefore no 'wrong way'.  Check and see how it was done in the past, but you CAN definitely use BI360 to gain crazy great INSIGHTS to actuals over the years and can get as detailed as you want with it.
