CRM Dynamics to GP Integration

Hello folks.  Currently we have a group in our organization that manually enters all sales from Dynamics CRM into GP.  We have been working on building out requirements to make this an automated process and are now in need of a 3rd party vendor to help with this integration.  Can any of you share suggestions on who you have used for this type of work?  I would love to hear good, bad and ugly about them - did they stay on budget, did they stay within the expected timeframe, were they easy to work with, did they have enough resources available, etc.

Any suggestions any of you can offer would be appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Hi Scott,

We have been using eOne SmartConnect to automatically integrate SOP Invoices into Dynamics GP.
Our data source is pointed to CRM database and we use SQL script to get all the fields needed.
Let me know if you need more details.

    Scott,

We use a series of SSIS packages to push SOP data into GP and then pull them back as invoices in CRM to present on our portal for payment.  Payments are then pushed back into GP batches for settlement, then we update the invoices in CRM as paid, voided, etc.

    Scott,

I wanted to follow up on Cecile's post.  If you would like more information on SmartConnect, we would be happy to discuss what you are looking for and show you more.  You can also find more information about it on our website at https://www.eonesolutions.com/smartconnect/overview/.

We have thousands of customers using SmartConnect to integrate Dynamics GP and CRM as well as many other systems.  We have Connectors built into SmartConnect for Dynamics GP and CRM, so you could map data directly between the two and have it run on command, at set times, or when triggered.

Just let us know if there is anything we can help answer for you.

I have to concur that eOne SmartConnect is the way to go.   The beauty of using this product is that if you don't have anyone technical in your org that can take and run with it, there are a number of us VARs who are certified and can get you setup quickly, but then transfer knowledge to your group so you can maintain and tweak as necessary.  In addition, if you have other integration needs, you have the product to do that.

I would just add: SmartConnect does not have any Bulk API, so if you have a large data set you're trying to integrate it will be extremely slow.

Just to clear up what David is saying, SmartConnect does have a Bulk API for things like Dynamics CRM.  eConnect, which is used to communicate with GP does not have a Bulk API, therefore SmartConnect cannot have one for GP.

Scott, I'm taking a slightly different slant on this reply.  The best way to determine the requirements that are given to a partner, or are developed with a partner, is to configure GP for manual entry of sales orders without considering that sales orders are being captured in Dynamics CRM.  The configuration in GP will uncover potential data points that GP needs that the Dynamics CRM sales order transaction does not contain, depending on the level of sophistication / enhancements you've put into CRM.  Since GP is the financial system, the sales order transaction has to flow into the sub-ledgers correctly.  Once you have a sales order transaction in GP that is on parity with the sales order transaction in GP, you may need to augment the CRM sales order transaction with additional fields or include fields from other entities, such as Products, as part of the data included in the interface process.  I've seen, too often, the assumption that because the sales order in CRM has quantities, items, unit prices, extended prices and totals, the transaction contains everything it needs.  The only way to confirm that is to engineer the transaction in GP and then validate the data points exist in CRM.

I hope this advise is helpful.
