    I am confused by the Potentially Matched Transactions I get when running Reconcile to GL for AR.

    Here are both sides of the spreadsheet with two transactions that appear to match, but are still listed in Potentially Matched Transactions.

    Why don't they appear in Matched Transactions or how to I get them to match?

    hi Richard,  The potentially matched section just means that the original transaction doesn't have the same document number as the side it's matching up to.  Example shipment receipt from a PO and the invoice match.  They are absolutely related but they have different document numbers.  I've never seen an issue in the potentially matched section.  You only need to focus on the unmatched.  Potentially matched will never move to matched.  Not an issue.  Hope that helps.

    Thanks Teri.  It's good to know that I can simply ignore them.

    @Richard Roen,

    The Dynamics GP Reconcile reports just don't dig deep enough into the data to figure out if there is an issue or not.  That's where the Potentially Matched section of the report comes from. More often than not these are false positives and you end up down a rabbit hole.
    We use The Closer from Reporting-Central. Their reports and analysis dig deeper and their use of error codes let us know where the underlying issue is, no "potentially matched" transactions with The Closer.

    I know purchasing an add-on ISV is not always cost effective, but I believe the time savings have truly offset the cost of the application.

    Regards,

    Bryan

    The Dynamics GP Reconcile reports only perform a very basic analysis. Data in GP is stored in multiple tables and the GP reports just don't dig deep enough into the data to confirm if there is an issue or not.  These are the transactions that marked as Potentially Matched. These are more often than not false positives and send you a on wild goose chase. We use The Closer from Reporting-Central which is a much better tool. Their analysis is much deeper and they have error codes that classify what the underlying issue is, there are no "potentially matched" transactions with The Closer.  We use it for ap and bank trxs as well.  You should look into it!
