Date effective tax rates messing up payable transaction distribution

    Hello

We are using Date effective tax and it is causing us a weird situation. In payables transaction entry if we change a document date then the distribution is recalculated just like if we pressed the "Default" button in the distribution window. Using SQL Profiler I've found out that it is a Stored Procedure on the table PM10500 (PM_Tax_WORK) that started the problem and reset the distribution. I've tried turning off the feature and the problem wasn't there anymore, so at least I know that is the source of the problem.

Anybody else have the same problem and/or found a solution ?

    Dynamics GP 2015R2
    SQL Server 2014

    Thanks

    Hi @Pierre Deschenes

This is actually what it is supposed to be doing - Date Effective tax (when turned on) will recalculate taxes based on dates in GP - such as the document date, which is why when you changed the document date, it changed the taxes - but, if you have custom distributions it WILL mess with it.

Have you looked into Avatax?  I know many Canadian companies use this tool.

Look into it if you have not already, it's spendy, but a great tool!

    Hi @Jo deRuiter

I do understand that this is the purpose of the function, but for me it looks like a half done job, I don't see why they couldn't just recalculate the distribution lines for the taxes and don't touch the purchases lines unless the taxes are included.

As for Avatax it would be an overkill since the out of the box GP tax functionality is working for us except for managing the tax rate changes which doesn't occur that often.
