Non inventory service line item - Need GP to calculate extended cost

We have a service line item where we need to get GP to calculate the extended cost. However, it is a non-inventory item. If we cannot get the extended cost to calculate our sales associate must manually enter it. What options do we have at this point?

    Hi @Helena Ky

When you say "Service Item" are you talking about this taking place on a field services call or is this happening in Sales Order Processing or is this happening (much less likely) in Purchase Order Processing?

When you say it's a Non-Inventory Item are you just meaning that it is setup IN inventory, but as a "Services" Type of item?  Or do you mean you are not keeping it in inventory at all and just typing it in?

If it is set up an an Item, but with a "Services" type, have you in-put a cost in the current or standard cost window?

If you are entering it in Field Services, and it is a "Services" type of item, are you using the "Labor" tab or trying to enter it in the "Parts" tab?

    Hi @Jo deRuiter

I work with @Helena Ky so I am providing more info to try to answer your questions - this is for Sales Order Processing. We set up a new item as a "Services" Item Type including designating a Current Cost. This item will be 0.00 sale to the customer, however we want to record the cost for margin/commission purposes. In our testing when we create a Sales Transaction Invoice and use this item, we're unable to get the extended cost to calculate based on the QTY. For example, if I have QTY of 10 @ 0.00 Sale, I'm expecting to record $50 cost (QTY 10 x 5.00 current cost in item card) on this line item. Instead it simply pulls in the $5.00 current cost we designated when the item was set up. We're trying to figure out if this isn't calculating because this is a "services" item type or what it could be.

@Jo deRuiter - This has been resolved. The extended cost isn't a field in the sales item detail entry window, only unit cost is displayed. Therefore we mistaken unit cost for extended cost and were expecting to see the calculated total, but we won't in the UI. However when I run a sales line items smartlist, it does show the extended cost total.
