PSTL version

  • 1.  PSTL version

    Posted 24 days ago
When I open Professional Services Tools Library in Dynamics GP, I receive a message 'Invalid versions!  This version of PSTL is only available in GP 2016'.  We are on GP 2018.  I'm confused because PSTL is installed as a feature in the Dynamics setup, so why would it be the wrong version?  And how do I update it?  I tried a repair on the Dynamics install but that made no difference

    Hi Aref,

Thank you so much for the information.  Do you know if I only need to do this on the server, or also on all client workstations?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Tracy,

I believe that you just need to run this on the server unless you have local installs of GP on all workstations.
If you have GP installed locally on the individual workstations (not using a remote connection on a terminal server) then I would try that on one machine first.

@Jo deRuiter any thoughts on this?

Ok yes we do have GP installed locally on each individual workstation (I am so hoping this changes in the near future), so I do appreciate any additional thoughts...but thanks I will try it on just one workstation first.

    Thank you for the input!

PSTL is a separate install from Dynamics GP, thus it has to be installed on every fat client from which you plan to use it.

Due to the power of the tools in the PSTL, however, I only install PSTL to the server and an admin workstation.  I do NOT install PSTL as part of my standard Dynamics GP suite.  I highly recommend NOT installing it to user workstations as several of the tools there can make irrevocable changes to user data.

    Agree with Blair,
However, some functionalities enabled as 'options' (flag / switch) in PSTL requires the module to be loaded with the GP client in order to work.
You'd have to deal with the GP security to prevent regular users to access the PSTL main window.
