Drop Ship PO Question

  • 1.  Drop Ship PO Question

I have a question about the Ship To Address on a Drop Ship PO. After entering the Vendor, a box pops up to select the Customer and Ship To address. Then, when you enter a line item, you have to select a Ship To Address. We are not sure if we are missing a configuration, but why wouldn't the Ship To Address selected on the first window not auto populate to the Ship To Address on the line item? Why am I selecting a Ship To Address twice, especially if it is the same address? Thanks!

    Hi @Melissa Hyman

How are you guys initiating the drop-ship?  It sounds like you are initiating from a PO as opposed to a Sales Order (the differences in how they are created are great, and you may have your reasons for not initiating it from the sales order or return, but creating the drop ships from the Sales Orders are usually the best method).

IF you must kick it off from the Purchase Order, there are some settings that will allow you to auto-populate the last line-entered's ship to address.

In Purchasing>Setup>Purchase Order Processing, choose to use the site ID from the previous line and NOT the Items default Site ID.

You have picked up on one of the frustrating aspects of PO's that the Ship-To on the print-out of the PO will not be populated by the address at the Header-level of the PO (Where you choose vendors, etc) but is populated by the individual lines.

This is both good and bad, it's good because you can actually use ONE PO to ship to multiple locations as a different page of the PO will print for each line with a different Ship To, BUT, you can't really roll-down changes to the ship to from the header-level.  Not the way you'd want to anyway.

I vaguely recall that the order the information was entered into the sales transaction mattered.  If the line item is entered before the ship to address, then you will get the message to roll down the address to the line items.  Try specifying the ship to address before entering the line item and let us know if that resolves your issue.

Sorry, the same thing might apply to the purchase order.  Oh wait, I see Jo is helping you.  Ignore me and listen to her.  :)
