ACH - AP

    Hi All,
We currently do ACH within the US for a lot of vendors. I was trying to set up the EFT information for a Canadian vendor (who wants to paid in US $). I confirmed with the bank that this worked as desired. I was provided the bank name, routing information and account number. However, when I change the drop down to Canada and enter the routing number it errors with a message that the routing number must be 8 digits. The number provided is 9 digits but begins with three zeroes. Is there a setting or is the correct number of digits really 8 for Canada?
    TIA.
    ACH setup

    Hi @Charlotte Sexton,

The microsoft KnowledgeBase article below does a great job of explaining the cause and resolution to the issue.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4459212/kb-the-transit-routing-number-must-be-8-characters-in-canadian-file-fo

Basically when Canada changed to a 9 digit routing number, a leading 0 was just added to the existing 8 digit number.  Rather than change the coding on this particular screen, Microsoft changed the default EFT file format to be 9 digits long, right justified, and included a leading 0 padding character (which essentially puts that leading 0 in all the time).

Microsoft's advisement is to enter the 8 digits into the Vendor EFT Maintenance (excluding the leading 0) and ensure that the EFT file format for the routing numbers is set as described as above.

Does that make sense?  If you have questions or run into issues, please let us know.

    Thanks,

    Samantha
