A user's machine was upgraded in place from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

When he first experienced a problem, he logged into a company and got the messages shown here.

We uninstalled GP completely and reinstalled. Same issues.

The client used Revo Uninstaller and then installed GP again but GP now crashes upon logging in and hitting the home page.

Does anybody have an idea what could be causing this?

    Hi @Charles Allen

This could be related to Named Printers. Named Printers stores binary printer settings information that is specific to the printer driver installed.  Changing OS is very likely to change the printer driver so that the stored binary data is no longer valid. Attempting to use this binary data from an old driver with the new driver is very likely to cause instability.

I documented this when I wrote the following KB article:

    Hi Charles,

I recently had a client upgrade 2 pc's from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  GP 2016 launched as it should on one but would freeze at the home screen on the other.  I did similar troubleshooting steps that you did (a repair, a full install, removed security, even tried opening up IE security).  We finally found that the pc that worked was updated to Windows Update 1909.  The pc that was failing was only on Update 1709.  Updating the pc to Windows 1909 fixed GP for us.  Hope this helps.

The client installed some Windows updates and the issue was resolved.
