    Hello Everybody,

    The Inventory Kits menu option is not appearing for users (Cards >> Inventory >> Kits)

    Security is enabled on the window. And users have access.

    Would anyone know if there's another security I need to set?

    Powerusers see the menu option / have access.

    Thanks for suggestions.

    @Maria Frandzeskakis,

    Powerusers see everything and GP does not keep track of what actions they perform. I'd recommend that you remove the POWERUSER from everybody. If you have @David Musgrave's GP Power Tools, you can create a SuperUser Role and Task that includes all GP functions; but GP will track the actions of the SuperUser.

    OK, obligatory warning issued!

    What your screen shot shows is a Security Role (MIP KITS) with the single Security Task that is assigned to that role (CARD_042*). What you need to do is check the Security Task and see what Window resources are assigned to it in Inventory. The GP Window you're talking about is "Inventory Kit Maintenance". Make sure that the CARD_0402* Security Task includes the Inventory Kit Maintenance window.

    I suggest making sure because I just checked our own CARD_0402* Task and Item Kit Maintenance was not selected.

    Regards,

    @Steve Erbach

    Thank you Steve !!
    You hit the nail on the head - - for whatever reason, the Security Task CARD_0402* did not have the Item Kit Maintenance window selected. I had not thought to check this as the Task is part of the out-of-the-box GP security.
    I've now corrected this.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

    Maria,
    @Steve Erbach did uncover one of the flaws I've discovered in GP security for quite a while.. and sometimes I'm just questioning myself on who setup the default security tasks & roles, because not only do many of them cross various resources between roles and tasks, which means there is no hard segregation of duties in the samples that are provided out-of-the box in GP security.. and it was probably never meant to be.
    After the GP 10 upgrade (and change in security model) Microsoft just provided some default samples on how the GP security could look like, but it probably wasn't meant to be used 'as is', since you can see that it has many flaws and holes. I've seen similar situation where a payroll clerk didn't have access to reprint the payment report for an employee if they lost their own stub.. as in the "Inventory Kit Maintenance", this was simply not checked in the security, or it was only available to an ADMIN_ security role..
    GP Power Tools from @David Musgrave is one of the few tools (add-on) to GP that can help you build new security roles & tasks from scratch in GP and assign them to user, based on what they really do in GP. Highly recommend the tool.
