not privileged to run this report

    Hello,

     

    We have an end user testing EFT and they get the messaged "not privileged to run this report" but the process seems to complete. We however do not get the report and I'm not sure what's the report name. It seems it's a permissions issue which I'm thinking could be solved by going to Tools>>Setup>>System>>Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports, just not sure what to do next. Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi Eddie,

    You are correct... this is a report access issue... and there's a need to identify what the report in question is.
    Would you be able to provide the detailed steps taken by this user - and when exactly in the process is he the report being generated (and / or getting the error message)?

    A not privileged error is caused by security access (security tasks and roles).  Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports just controls which version you use ONCE you have access.

    You need to identify the security issue, the simplest method is to use the Security Profiler window in GP Power Tools.

    Install the 30-day free trial and then​ use the Security Profiler to identify the report and the Security Information window to fix the issue.

    Does anyone have an idea why GP doesn't provide you the name of the resource in the access denied dialog? Seems like such a simple thing...

    Hi @Matthew Arp

    GP Power Tools adds the details to the dialog by default for forms. Sadly the technique does not work for reports as the dialog text cannot be altered the same way I can for forms.

    But the Security Profiler will capture the details.

    Hi Eddie,

    Just another thought... use the 'sa' login for the test run so that all reports get generated... then re-run it as the other user.
    This way, you'll be able to note which report/s didn't get printed for the other user.
