Hi, all! You may have noticed we've updated the ribbons and badges that appear on your GPUG profile.  This update is meant to thank and recognize all the hard work and efforts of people like you who make the User Group a thriving community for Dynamics GP users.

To check these out on your own profile, visit https://www.gpug.com/engage/member-directory/members/profile/contributions/contributions-achievements (or browse to My Profile > My Contributions > Achievements)

There is a fresh new design for our existing ribbons and badges, as well as the addition of some new badges to recognize more types of awesome community activity happening throughout GPUG. We've added achievement sections like Education, Conferences, and Awards to showcase awards, conference attendance, and certifications you have earned through GPUG.

The badges that you have earned appear in full color, while the badges that you can earn but haven't yet appear with opacity.  You can hover over each badge to see text that tells you how the badge is earned. Please note that the Contributor level badges (Silver, Gold, and Top) and Chapter Participant badge are achievable only by paid GPUG user and partner members.

And hold on to your hats…we've got a few more badges coming soon to recognize our Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Granite volunteer award winners.

Thank you, all, for your contributions - YOU make this community amazing!

    Cheers,

    Marghet

    Hi @Marghet Hager,
That looks amazing and impressive !
One question : I see in the Awards section my 'GPUG All Star' badge, but my Ruby award is 'greyed' out..  is this based on the current year only ?
Also, my GPUG Summit attendee ribbons are starting in 2014 only, whereas my 1st Summit was in 2013 where I also got the All Star award..
    Have a great day!

Hi, @Beat Bucher! I am so glad you like them :)

We will be finalizing and adding the gem stone award badges (like your Ruby award!) in July, and we'll be adding yearly gem stone award winner ribbons as well. You got a sneak peak at the design, and don't worry - you'll be getting your badge :)

As we go forward and add new badges and ribbons, we will only be displaying the most recent summit year ribbons in order to keep the profiles tidy. However, if you ever attended Summit, you will keep the Summit badge on your Achievement page. And, we thinking of different and new ways to reward and recognize people like you who have attended multiple Summits so stay tuned :)

    Hi, all (and @Beat Bucher)!

I just wanted to update this thread that we have added badges and ribbons recognizing our 2016 Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Granite volunteer award winners. These will be updated when the 2017 winners are announced! Enjoy, and many thanks to our GPUG volunteers!

    Marghet,

I made an alteration to the Summit badge to use the GPUG color and added ribbons for years:

    Hi @Marghet Hager

I agree with Sparkly @Steve Erbach that the Summit icon should be in the GPUG Yellow. :)

Also how do I get the Chapter Leader badge enabled. Does @Molly Fuchsel need to do that for me?

While I am not a blogger on the GPUG Site, I am a regular blogger too. Does the badge only cover bloggers on the GPUG site? If so, is there a way to Syndicate from my blog to the GPUG site? I am already syndicated to the Microsoft community site.

    Thanks

    David

    David,

Nice suggestion. That would mean blogs like Polino's, Vail's, Gomez-Bent's, etc., could be linked, too. That would increase the utility of the GPUG blogging capability a lot.

    Sincerely,

+1 to @David Musgrave's question, I'd be curious how that works too... my blog is syndicated on Dynamics Community too but I haven't "cross posted" any blog content here before.

    Hi @David Musgrave!

I have added those chapter leader badges & ribbons to your profile - apologies they were missing :)

The Blogger badge does only apply to our GPUG bloggers, and I've got a blog here about how to add one along with some with tips if you already have a blog. I would *love* for you to add a GPUG blog as it is really handy for other GPUGgers since blog content gets indexed and comes up in global GPUG site searches.

If you, or anyone else, has a question about adding a blog or what to do if you already have a blog, please feel free to message me!

If we already have a blog on our own website, what do you recommend for a GPUG blog? Are you allowed to put an excerpt and "read more" link to the original post, for instance? It sounds like that is not allowed if I'm reading it correctly.

    Hi, @Jen Kuntz!

I would recommend copy + pasting the whole blog article so it gets indexed into our site if you feel the content would be valuable for GPUGgers to do keyword searches on, and I'd add your original blog's URL in the Canonical URL field so Google knows the duplication of content is intentional.

I'm OK with a link back to your original blog (general note to all: please follow the Code of Conduct's guidelines when writing blogs and adding links to GPUG posts or blogs - no linking to outside events, webinars, job ads, overly promotional content, etc.), just remember that the text after the jump won't be searchable. If that information after the link jump holds valuable nuggets of wisdom as I know it would be from anything written from the people on this thread, consider adding that text directly on GPUG.com!
