GP and PO Requisitions

  • 1.  GP and PO Requisitions

    Posted 9 days ago
We are considering implementing PO Requisitions in GP with workflow approvals.  With some staff working remotely, we would like staff to be able to submit requests remotely.  Is anyone using PO Requisitions in this manner and if so, how does that work?

Also, is anyone using any 3rd party software for the PO requisition process?

    Thanks.

    Hi @RENEE MEYER,

We have several clients who are working remotely and utilize the PO Requisition functionality.  They approach it in a couple of ways.

1.) Users access a remote server where GP is installed, they sign in and do all their work (including requisition submission).
2.) They utilize the GP web client which lets you work in GP without having GP physically installed on a remote work station or on the local user's machines.
3.) They utilize a third party software to submit the requisition so technically it's handled outside of GP, but it eventually makes it's way to GP depending on the approval status.

In Options 1 and 2, the requisition user must have a GP login and must log into GP in some method (RDP, web client, etc.).

In Option 3, they don't have to have a GP license.  The clients we have using this feature are using a software called Docuphase, but there are a number of softwares out there are available for document approval/workflow purposes.

    Thanks,

    Samantha

    Hello Renee,
In my experience, 3rd party software is pretty expensive. I received two quotes.

Paramount WorkPlace -  $38,175 the first year and then a yearly maintenance fee of $4,725. That includes, the requisition form, mobile access, 30 users and 3 punch-out vendors. (This is with a $2,250 non-profit discount.)

Fraxion for $10,120 per year for web portal, requisitions, PO's, vendor punch-out (4) GP integration, tech support, 30 users and remote implementation and training. (This is with a $1,080 non-profit discount.)

I personally think using the web client will get you what you want without spending the extra money. As long as your users can connect to your network they will have access to the requisitions. We have the users sign in using Windows authentication, the username and password they use to sign in to their work computer.

The workflow approval process is kinda complex but once you get the gist of it you will be fine. I figured it out and I never worked in GP until a month ago.

    Good luck!!

We tried the webclient and we dont like it.

They have alot of issue.  You cannot do a copy paste with the mouse because it's freeze the webpage.

The installation of the webclient is a mess.

Maybe our solution it will be to build our own webpage to do requisition and use the econnect fonctionnality.

    Hello Martin,
We have no issue with copy and paste. I have experienced some quirks about the web client that are annoying but when we upgrade our system, there will be a fix. We have very limited resources and have to use what works for us. :)
    Thanks,
    Amanda
