Check Numbers are dropping first digit

Our check number sequence just reach 5 digits. When we printed checks today GP dropped the first digit of the new numbers.
For example Check number 10000 show in GP as Check number 0000.
Also the checks did not print properly in our check stock.
Anyone out there know how to fix this?

Are you using a regular GP Report Writer check? My guess would be that the field just needs to be made a little wider. Any chance you can let us know if you are using GP to print your checks or if you are using something like Mekorma MICR?

We do use check stock with the numbers pre-printed.

It is also possible that the Next Check Number in your Checkbook Maintenance window does not have room to expand.  (Example: it was at 9999, with no leading zero, so it flipped to 0000.)  If you update the next check number to 10000, then it should be ok until you get to 99999.  You could put the next check number to 010000, then it would work until 999999. :)

You need to go to checkbook maintenance and change the next check number there (cards>Financial>Checkbook).    GP will not roll forward numbers like that by increasing the original number length, unless your original numbers were set up with a leading zero (ie:09999)

I thought your issue was that it wasn't printing the first digit. If that's part of the issue, I did a screenshot to show where you could expand the width of the check number fields:

    Report Writer - Field Width
