Our company has experienced problems with GP2015 recently for example, transactions not posting correctly.  Currently we are having Microsoft help with a restore.  Apparently there are two other companies in our area (Kansas City) that are also having issues.  Is anyone else?

    Hi @Diane Cooper

It's not likely that anything happening with your GP is related to anyone else's unless you are being hosted (in the cloud) by a specific company.  Microsoft does not host GP but your partner might be hosting you.

There are a number of reasons for postings to be interrupted so you would need to provide us with more information.

How do you access GP?  Is it installed on YOUR machine or do you click on the icon of a computer and log in to a remote computer or do you click an icon and have it open in "Citrix" or some other type of deployed application environment.

Have you had any power outages?

Any recent changes to how your infrastructure is set up?

Let us know the deets and there are many on here who can help!

Jo de is on the same track as me. We had a hosted system and we were getting corrupted posting frequently as the data was not flowing correctly. Our worst interruptions were the girls in sales having unbalanced invoicing. We moved to our own dedicated servers that are maintained off premises for us. All those problems disappeared.

Good morning @Diane Cooper from another GP using Kansas City GP company!

Jo is correct, this might end up being obvious (after the fact) or deep, but knowledge of your system and usage will help with troubleshooting.

Having said that, I can offer some of our experiences that might help. My company has very mobile workforce and all of our users are on laptops. We tell them not to do this, but they sometimes dock or undock their laptops while working in GP. The switch from wired to wireless sometimes causes a hiccup with the backend SQL data connection. Stuck batches, incomplete postings, etc. A solid stable network is a good idea when working in GP. Wandering the building on WiFi while posting, not so much <grin>.

Do you see this happening evenly across all users or are most of the problems concentrated to one or two users?
Any pattern to the failure times? (I actually saw someone once that had problems around lunchtime. Guess what was plugged into the same circuit on the other side of a wall? Yep, a Microwave.)
Do you have GP installed locally on user's machines, or on Terminal Services/Citrix?
Big network with lots of activity or small quiet system?

Good luck with GP and remember, we are here to help!

Just wanted to echo other comments here: a stable, local, wired connection is what the GP Engine was built around.  Wireless connections are not stable and software has to be built specifically to deal with the inconsistencies which come with it - such as web-based apps.  I know that a lot of people like their hosted GP environments, but the key to making that work is a high-speed, stable connection between your company and the provider.  If you are experiencing problems and they seem to be regional in effect, there may be some bad routing in your area that you will have no control of - which may be detrimentally affecting your connection to your hosting ISP.  And GP just isn't forgiving with that stuff.

I would contact the ISP and find out what kind of service-level agreement (SLA) you have with them.  Ask them if they can monitor your connection to try to help diagnose your specific problem.  If you aren't getting a solid 10 Mbps both ways to your provider, you either need to look for a better internet connection or face the fact that a hosted solution may not be feasible for your company.

Thank you for all the responses.  Our IT department is progressing with the problem.  They are going through  recovery, cleanup, and validation and then will test in our Test Company.  Hopefully we will be back up and running Monday.
