We are moving to a third party tool for AP automation. With that comes the need to add information to our current vendor setup, along with updating other information that already exists in vendor data. For example, we will need to add EFT information, some will need updated contact info, email and possible address information, along with GL account. Has anyone done something similar? If so, which route did you take and are you willing to share? What is the best way to accomplish this in a timely manner? It does not have to be in one pass, but time is limited and it does not appear this would be an easy project with Integration Manager or am I mistaken? Is there a third party tool that can handle all of this or can IM get this done for us with our developer's expertise? We have a strong in-house developer. Also, this will need to happen for 21 of our many companies. Any suggestions, tips or tricks would be great. Thank you in advance.

You can certainly use IM to do this, but this sounds like it will be an ongoing process for you.  We use SmartConnect from eOne Solutions.  It's far easier to work with than IM and will allow you to schedule imports going forward.

I thought the econnect adapter allowed for bringing in the bank info, but it's been a long time since I've worked with IM.  If not then you could us IM to import all of the vendor info except the bank part.  Then use table import to populate the bank info into the SY06000 table - Address Electronic Funds Master.  The table import utility just populates the target table with the info you provide.  No error checking is done.  But if this is a one-time exercise and you don't already have bank info in place for your vendors then it should be fine.

Integration Manager will not update the email or EFT information, so you have a couple of options:
1) Rent SmartConnect for 1 month to get this done, it's around $250.00 for a full month but you can get all of this done fairly quickly as you CAN map those fields with SmartConnect
2) If renting that product is not an option, then you can always use a mail merge macro to quickly get it done.  You'd get your lists for updating them into Excel and then use Word to mail merge the info into a macro that would run in GP.  (Think of it as a custom Integration Manager)

Hi Angela

The sample code for importing customers exists, but I have not written the blog yet.  Happy to provide the sample.

However, you would need to adjust the code to change it to import your data and store the imported data where you want in the tables.

This is not an import application, it is a custom script that performs the import and updating tasks and so would need altering to match your needs.

Any developer will be able to make the changes, or I can provide some consulting time if needed.
