Smart Connect Payable upload is really slow

     Hi All:


     

    We just implemented smart connect with GP 2013. Our consultant created maps for GL and AP. GL map works fine but Payable map  is really slow –The timing is very  inconsistent. 1500 lines file is taking three hours or more. Consultant created a staging table and date moves from stating area to processing area. We wanted to go on auto schedule but with these long hours to upload a file we are unable to go for auto schedule. Our understanding is smart connect is very powerful tool and uploads transactions faster but our experience is otherwise. What could be the reason(s) for these longer processing times?

    That is unusual.  I doubt very much that it is a SmartConnect issue.  I would look for things like resource contention or possibly something like an anti-virus software interfering.

    I would start with stripping your integration down and then building it up one piece at a time until you identify the slowdown.  For example, get your source data into a flat text file and write a map that just creates the transactions (payables) in GP.  Take timings.  Then, have it read your data from your real source (staging table).  Take timings.  Then, add any writebacks or file handling tasks.  Take timings.  Then, add scheduling.  Etc.

    Do these steps in your production environment.

    There are a lot of different things that could come into play and Chris gave some great suggestions on splitting it out to try to narrow it down.

    Here are a couple of things that come to mind on our end:
    - Why is a staging table being used?  I am guessing there is a reason, but it is something to investigate.
    - What version of SmartConnect are you using.  I see it is GP 2013, but hopefully a newer version of SC.
    - Is there a lot of Global Variables setup in your SC system?
    - Is everything being logged?  Maybe the log table needs to be cleared.
