PM vs. GL

Can anyone give a clear, simple explanation (I'm closer to the beginner level with regards to GP) of why/what would case a batch to flow through to the PM (excluding something in 'work') but not the GL? When a batch is posted, it leaves 'work' in the PM and should then flow through to the GL. I have seen some cases when an invoice is showing up as open or history in the PM vendor card, but does not show up anywhere in the GL. How and why does that happen?
And importantly- how can this be prevented?
    Thanks for your help!

Is your batch truly posted?  Have you checked batch recovery?  What is the posting setup like -post to or post through?

I have seen where someone could debit and credit the same account in AP so it won't affect the GL but it will appear in AP to be paid.

You may want to drill down on the posted transaction in AP and see what may have happened.

    Hi @Sarah Schneider

Depending on settings in Administration>Setup>Company>Posting the PM Transactions would flow to the GL directly.

UNLESS they are being posted from the transaction level and NOT the batch level in which case they will show up as unposted transactions in the Financial Module and have to be posted manually there.

There are a number of caveats to this, but make sure in the Posting Settings that "Post Through" is marked for Payables Transactions or whichever type of transaction you are working in.  Also, if users are posting from a transaction level then you may want to uncheck "Allow Transaction Level Posting"

I have attached the presentation I do on Posting settings which may answer a number of your questions
