Mysterious Empty GL Batches

    Hi there,

For about a month we have been seeing mysterious batches pop up in Financial -- > Batches
They all begin with RMAPY which comes is a Receivables apply if I'm not mistaken.
The status indicates that there is a Transaction Error - Edit Required.

When I go into the batches, it shows that there is a single JE with a batch total of $0.

When I drill down into the transaction, I am in the JE and it is empty.

We get about 1 per week but in the past week, about 10 to 15 have accumulated.

Receivables tells me they encounter no issues when doing their cash receipts / deposits.

Much appreciated for any insight into this weird problem.

    Hi @David Allan

Do you ever go to batch recovery and mark it to recover? (Since it shows you that an Edit is Required)?

Yes! It basically resets the status and then I can go into the batch.

There is nothing in the transaction which is what I assume is the part that requires the edit.

    I've attached some screen shots.

Someone is doing a manual writeoff in the sales apply window and their permissions don't allow fully it or the w/o accounts are bad/missing in posting setups.
You might even have the GJ in the GL10000 table if you look for it w Smartlist.

We had that happen in Payroll, and found it was that there were missing GLs for a certain line of the transaction (which was a zero dollar amount, so it basically didn't do anything except create those empty transactions in a batch that required recovery and deletion), so I would look at all the GLs that are supposed to be in the Receivables transactions and see if there might be a default one missing somewhere or similar.

Sorry but I am just seeing this thread.  What you likely have is your posting setup to post in summary for payment application application batches (RMAPY).  You have a debit and a credit going to the same account.  So it is unable to post in summary as that sum of debits and credits is zero to a single account.  You can delete the batch.
