Alt Menus

I'm new to this community, so if this question has been asked and answered elsewhere, please forgive my ignorance.

I am trying to activate the alt menus within different windows.  For example, I use Summary Inquiry quite often.  I have it saved as a shortcut in my favorites and I've assigned it a shortcut key.  Ideally, I'd like to use my shortcut key to pull up the report, type in the account number, and then use the alt commands to print the report.  However, I cannot seem to access "Clear, View, File, Tools, or Help using alt.  Is there another way to do this?

I also have History Summary Inquiry saved the same way I saved Summary Inquiry, but when I use my shortcut key to open that window, the alt menu commands are highlighted as soon as the window opens.  I have to press "esc" to deselect the alt commands, and then once I hit esc, I can no longer bring back the alt commands.

Is there any guidance about this, or some sort of setting I have selected that is inhibiting this?  I use my keyboard more than my mouse and not having the alt menus available is a bit tedious.

Thanks for any input or assistance anyone can share.

    Hi Linda,

    Welcome to GPUG community!!

It really depends on which window you are in - some has keyboard equivalent and some don't.

Linda, are you using the Action Pane display?  I don't believe alt commands work with it.  Try changing to the Menu Bar display, and see if the alt shortcuts will highlight.
    - Click the Dynamics GP button, and select User Preferences
    - Change the drop down selection for Window Command Display to Menu Bar
    - Log out and back into GP

It's a user specific setting, so you won't throw anyone else off.
