FRX licences

  • 1.  FRX licences

I recently started at a new company that still uses FRX (new system coming soonish) and they only have 4 licences but they have 35 GP licences. At my old company I feel we had the same amount of for both.  I now this system is no longer supported but is there anyway we can get more licences? It seems crazy that we have to deal with not enough licences issues each month end.

Anyone have any information on this.  #FRX

    Hi @Kristen Riley,

In theory, if the customer is up-to-date with their enhancement since they owned FRx, you should be able to ask Microsoft for Registration Keys for FRx for unlimited users which is what they are entitled today to with Management Reporter.  I am not sure how that would work because things like issuing keys and billing issues tend to be very guarded areas of operation in my experience, but it is worth a try.  I know for a fact that -- as a partner -- I can still generate development and demo licenses for GP versions as old as v9 with FRx keys.

I would open a case with sales operations if you really want to push for those keys.

Alternatively, I would migrate FRx to Management Reporter ASAP, but that really depends on what version of GP you are running and whether it is compatible with MR.  Another alternative is going to Jet Reports (now part of InsightSoftware) but there is a price for that, of course.

    Hope it helps!

    Hi @Kristen Riley,
I second Thomas on this topic.. FRx should really no longer be in use, especially when you know that you have not enough licenses to access it. I've recently upgraded a customer from FRx to MR 2012 and it went fairly well, as there weren't too many losses in the report definitions. There is no 100% error-free upgrade that I know of, but the conversion utility does a fairly good job. I don't know what your next financial reporting tool will be, but maybe it's worth switching to MR yet if the other project is not due before several months.
