Workflow e-mail display issue

  • 1.  Workflow e-mail display issue

    Posted 6 days ago
    Good Morning!

We have just started to test the e-mail actions from GP Workflow in GP 2018.

Overall everything appears to be working well, however I have an issue with the e-mails that GP are sending.

The formatting is terrible, in a standard desktop client the font size and type are just wrong.

The more serious issue, is I believe due to how the message is being formatted as HTML incorrectly.

When opening the e-mails on iOS Mail (iphone) the Workflow Action links are missing.

Has anyone else come across this? Is there a way to re-code or totally re-write the HTML for the message format?    When you look at the e-mail in Outlook (desktop) and View Source, you can clear see the HTML coding, and I believe the issue is because of how the message is coded for HTML, however the body of the e-mail sits within the "< pre >< /pre > "  tags, which force the message back down the plain text?

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
    Jay

    Hi Jay,
We are on the same page with the difference that we just started using the GP 2016-R2.
As regards the formatting we  don't find it a serious issue, i think it is editable, have not checked on it.

On the workflow actions i have below for you:
Workflow actions of Approve, reject, delegate etc. will not work rather they will not even appear on the mail,  if you are not on your Network or Domain.

We got a support from Microsoft on this and it was suggested that since the workflow action by default use endpoint URLs  http :// , they are only accessible by users that are logged onto the actual domain/network that Web Services for Dynamics GP is actually installed onto.

    The Following blog is helpful:

    Hello Jay,

The limitation on the workflow action links is something that we've written about in the past:

Microsoft Dynamics GP Workflow email links being removed from email notifications sent to approvers
    Dynamics remove preview
Microsoft Dynamics GP Workflow email links being removed from email notifications sent to approvers
We've seen an issue that some customers have run into where users are trying to approve workflows from Workflow 2.0 in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 through Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 and the approval...
    View this on Dynamics >

At this time the recommendation is to use an Outlook app to allow this functionality.  I also looked at the Product Suggestions for Dynamics GP (https://experience.dynamics.com/ideas/list/?forum=771cc5ac-c117-e811-8105-3863bb2e0320), but I didn't see that anyone has written this up there for others to vote up.

Sorry for an inconvenience.  Let me know if you have any questions.
