Calculating Period ID and Year for Unposted Trx

For some unposted transactions, such as those coming from a subledger, GP will not display the fiscal year or Period number in the OPENYEAR and PERIODID columns, respectively.

I'm wondering if anybody knows of a way to calculate those for a non-calendar year setup? The data I'm working with has uneven periods so 2/1/19 could be in Period 2 one year but Period 1 another year.

I'm trying to figure out how to use SY40100 but am not sure how possible it is.

    Thanks

Because the fiscal period setups are not locked and can be modified at any time, the PERIODID and OPENYEAR are not committed in the GL until the transaction is posted (this includes those originating from other modules) thus they will always be in the GL20000. BBFs set PERIODID = 0 though on a close.

If you want to estimate what the PERODID and OPENYEAR will be when an unposted transaction posts you would use the SY40100 as you guessed where SERIES = 0.

Provide the unposted transactions' DATEs as a variable and cursor the SY40100 where series = 0 for the results.

Here is a sample for DATE = August 15, 2019:
