Changing a GL account number

  • 1.  Changing a GL account number

    Posted 18 days ago
    Hello,

We originally setup an overhead account with the leading account numbers as 648-XXXX-XXXXX. To better organize our chart of accounts we want to update the overhead account to be 100-XXXX-XXXXX. There has been activity in the account. Is there a simple way to just update the account? What is the best way to do this?

    Thank you,

I believe you could use Account Modifier/Combiner to do this. Account Modifier/Combiner is part of the Professional Services Tools Library (PSTL).

You would need to install the PSTL if it isn't already.

Thank you! I just learned we do not have the PSTL installed yet.

Do you have any 3rd party products? You may want to double check and see if any of those product could be affected after changing your GL account. The PSTL tool is very useful but doesn't update all areas in GP if you have third party products. Best to run this in a test company first and test everything before running it in production.

    Hi Cassey,

I recommend you do it first in your TEST environment.   Hope the attached document guide helps.
