    Since our GP implementation, we have never used the "Paid Transaction Removal" function in Sales. After reading some messages and comments on this issue, I decided to start slowly and choose just one customer to test the process. This particular customer has only about 10 transactions dating back to 2015.

    Because we don't actually want to remove the transactions, but only move them from Open to History, I unchecked all options in the window except the one for "Balance Forward Consolidation", using a Cutoff Date of 12/31/19. I've run the process twice without success. The print preview shows no records and even after closing GP and reopening it, all Sales transactions for this customer are still in "Open" status.

    Has anyone else experienced the same? What am I missing?

    When I train my clients and others in the Microsoft world and we are covering this functionality my exact words are this:

    "This functionality is mis-named, it does not 'remove' anything, simply 'moves' it to history"

    That said, you should leave those checked to be able to move them to history.

    Also​, you likely are not using the 'Balance Forward Consolidation', not many in the US do.


    For the NSF and Checks it gives you a cutoff date separately because of the need to do 'returned' checks and sometimes you won't know about those for a month or so.  I typically train users to set that to one month prior to the date you are running the routine.  This way, if you do need to NSF or Return a check you would NOT have to move it back out of history.  Although, I have run into situations with my clients where they don't get alerted to the returned check for up to a couple of months.  This is something you should determine the timeline on based on your experience at APC.
