Pay Type on Earning Statement and Pay Check

Hello!  MN is implementing a new law requiring employers to print the pay type (hourly, salary, piecework, etc) on the Earning Statements and pay checks.  This seems like an easy task but I have yet to figure out how to get this information accessible on those reports within Report Writer.  Does anyone know how we can link back to the Pay Code Master or the Payroll Work Pay Code table to get a 1:1 relationship? (Doing a calculated field off the pay code is not possible due to the sheer volume of pay codes)

    Hi Melissa,

Have you tried linking the Payroll Pay Code Master to the Payroll Master?   What is MN calling this new law? I'd like to read about it!

Good morning Jeannette!  Thanks for the reply!

The new law is the Wage Theft Law (https://www.dli.mn.gov/business/employment-practices/wage-theft-legislation-2019-and-summaries).  As for linking the Payroll Pay Code Master to the Payroll Master, that will give me all of an employee's pay codes but I want the pay type for the specific pay code(s) the employee is being paid on that check--just another column on the stub or Earning Statement.  I don't think I can do that through the link between the Payroll Pay Code Master and the Payroll Master.
